Chris Clarke IV Degree - Chief Instructor
Mr Chris Clarke IV Degree, Founder and Chief Instructor of Kicks Taekwon-Do Academy, has over 18 years experience in martial arts, including Taekwon-Do, Kung Fu, Kickboxing and Tang Soo Do.
Chris has a real passion for Taekwon-Do and in 2013 saw him fulfil his lifelong dream of being awarded his Black Belt. This moment was made even more memorable as he graded alongside his brother Rob Clarke and good friend Dave Dine (Assistant Instructor), who also received their Black Belts. All 3 started their Taekwon-Do journey together, from their very first white belt beginners class and still continue to train and grade together to this day.
Chris' competitor career has seen him win numerous local and national titles. He still regularly competes at both Local, National and International level. In 2015 having being crown Unified ITF British Champion in both Patterns and Sparring. Chris went on to represent England as a member of the UKGT National Squad at the 2015 Unified ITF World Championships in London winning Gold in the Team Sparring event. Chris also represented England in the 2016 Unified ITF European Championship, winning Gold in Patterns & Silver in Sparring.
Chris believes that we should never stop learning and follows the Founder of Taekwon-Do's belief that no matter what grade one becomes, we are all still students of Taekwon-Do. His philosophy is; to be the best you must train with the best. Chris deems himself very honoured to have trained under some of the most famous Taekwon-Do Master’s and practitioners in the world, enabling him to pass on this knowledge in his own teachings.
Chris is a fully qualified Instructor with the UKGT (United Kingdom Global Taekwon-Do). Affiliated to Open ITF (Open International Taekwon-Do Federation). All UKGT Instructors undergo training approved by Open ITF, which includes, teaching techniques, child safety, first aid and an enhanced CRB check. So you can be rest assured that you and your children will be in safe hands.
Dave Dine IV Degree - Assistant Instructor
Mr Dave Dine IV Degree has over 16 years experience with different martial arts, starting with Judo in his younger years, to training to a high belt in Bushido-Kai Karate in his Teens, then over to an MMA style mixture of Kickboxing, Kung-Fu and Taekwon-Do, which obviously then led him to his real Martial Art passion – ITF Taekwon-Do.
Dave became firm friends with Chris and Rob from day one, which started out as a crowded class of 30 white belt students, which then slowly became 3 Black Stripe students who grading together for their black belt in 2013.
Dave has competed in many competitions over the years with his different Martial Arts, winning medals for mainly British events, but his main passion in life is learning and teaching the art of Taekwon-Do, to better himself on his journey. He also feels his life outside the Dojang has been improved, just by applying the Tenets of Taekwon-Do to his everyday life.
He is also honoured and very proud to have been invited to help teach as an Assistant Instructor at Kicks and cannot wait for the students he is now helping at 10th Kup White Belt, to become 1st Degrees themselves.
Dave is a qualified Assistant Instructor with the UKGT (United Kingdom Global Taekwon-Do). Affiliated to Open ITF (Open International Taekwon-Do Federation).
